Our story starts in 1935 in Sanremo. A trattoria opened near the fishing port so that he could secure the first catch and the freshest products. The Trattoria del Porto was originally located near the fishermen's piers (hence the name), subsequently due to the construction of the railway tracks, the restaurant was moved a few dozen meters upstream in the then Piazza dei Missionari now Piazza Bresca , Characteristic for its numerous palms and orange trees and for a nineteenth-century fountain which is located right in front of the Da Nicò restaurant.
Towards the end of the 1950s, his son Nicola, "Uncle Nicò", took over the management of his mother. He began a long tradition in re-breeding that is still handed down from father to son. Uncle Nicò made the first changes to the restaurant and managed in a short time to make his cuisine known not only to the residents but also to all that elite tourism of which Sanremo was the main destination in all the fifties and sixties thanks to the Casino and the new singing event, the Italian Song Festival, which a few years later brought the main singers, artists and characters of the jetset of the time to the Ligurian Riviera. In the seventies the restaurant passed into the hands of his nephew Bruno who made the first real renovation of the restaurant and who, like Zio Nicò, knows a lot of curiosities about the star system that passes through Sanremo every year.
