Royal Castle of Racconigi

The Royal Castle of Racconigi is located in Racconigi, in the province of Cuneo but not far from Turin.

During its almost millenary history it has seen numerous alterations and became the property of the Savoy from the second half of the fourteenth century.

Later it was the official residence of the Savoy-Carignano branch and was later elected the seat of the "Reali Villeggiature" of the royal family of the kings of Sardinia (and then of Italy) in the summer and autumn months.

Having become a highly frequented cultural and museum center, the castle is part of the circuit of the Savoy Residences of Piedmont, of the Castelli Aperti system of Lower Piedmont and since 1997 it has been part of the Savoy residences serial site included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
