La Capannaccia was born from an idea strongly desired by Daniele Polici, to give new life to a historic meeting point for entertainments between friends and outdoor snacks. The restaurant is located in the place where, as far back as 1950, catering was done. At the beginning the owners managed a tavern where the patrons could drink a good glass of wine, perhaps taking the snack and a shop-emporium from home which supplied the large group of inhabitants of the neighboring farmhouses. As the attendance grew, Marino and Pierina, the owners, thought of providing the possibility of refreshment to customers who, gradually, became more numerous.
At the outdoor tables, under a pergola, it was possible to have a snack, play cards or bowls and socialize. Numerous were the foreigners who, having discovered the place, came to eat, calling friends and relatives. Dutch and Germans were regular locals. The players of the football team of Fiorentina, Brescia and Livorno, in those years in summer retreat in Acquapendente, were frequent visitors to the place ... as were the singers Rino Gaetano, Luiselle and Gli drunk of Riace who, singing a snack, chanted songs together with the other patrons. The years passed and business was booming, until health problems forced the couple to leave the management of the club.
