Dal Verme Castle in Zavattarello

Completely built in stone, with a wall thickness of up to 4 meters, the Dal Verme Castle in Zavattarello is a formidable medieval architectural complex that has withstood numerous sieges.

This impregnable fortress of the mountain Oltrepò Pavese owes its name to the family that for six centuries marked the history of the castle: the Dal Verme family.

From the terrace and the tower you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding area: the green countryside, the cool woods, the hills with the other castles in the area - Montalto Pavese, Valverde, Torre degli Alberi, Pietragavina. From here, we understand the strategic choice of the place where to build this manor.

The imposing fortress overlooks the medieval village perched on the hill, which was once completely devoid of vegetation to allow the defenders of the manor to spot any attacker.

Today, however, the greenery that surrounds the castle is a protected area, a park of about 79 hectares full of peace and silence, where you can discover fairy-tale corners.
We invite you to come and discover the beauty and history, art and architecture, the past and the future of this fully restored medieval castle that can be visited.

Events, ceremonies, exhibitions, parties, conferences animate these rooms, where ancient and modern merge, creating a unique intertwining imbued with emotion.
