Following the Peace of Lodi in 1453 between the Duchy of Milan and the Venetian Republic, Francesco Sforza commissions to his natural son Tristano the construction of a guard tower of the border which will follow, as established by the treaty, the course of the Oglio river between Soncino and Pumenengo. The Tower, known as Tristano, was thus erected on the lands of the Counts Barbò, feudal lords of the places since 1070, as opposed to Roccafranca, located on the Venetian side of the river.
In the same place, a century later, Adalberto Marchese Pallavicino, whose fortune is linked to the construction of the irrigation canal of the same name in the Cremona plain, decided to build a sumptuous residence "... for not wanting to follow ungrateful principles ..." and which " … Seat of idleness of peace for himself and for his friends (SIBI ET AMICIS) ”, a purpose that can be read sculpted with a frieze, on the stone that runs over the arcades of the façade.
