Cala dei Ponzesi beach

The beach of Cala Sabina (famously known) or Cala dei Ponzesi (originally called) is located on the east side of the Asinara island, in a position very well sheltered from the winds. In the past, the beach was frequented by family members of prison guards and by rare visitors who were allowed to access the island. The beach has a small beach of about 60 meters in size and consists of white, fine-grained and soft sand. The sea is light green and blue, bright and transparent, with an extensive low sandy bottom.

Cala Sabina beach is the only cove on the island where swimming is allowed, and it is advisable to take advantage of it: the water is indeed crystal clear and pure. The sea is rich in rare, colorful and fascinating ichthyofauna, and its seabed is truly unmissable, for this reason it attracts many diving and snorkeling lovers. The nature of Cala Sabina or Cala dei Ponzesi is intact, the beach is framed by tamarisk groves, and clear rocks, and the beautiful and colorful wild lilies grow on the sand. The beach offers beautiful views to visitors, and is always uncrowded, just take a short stretch of dirt road about 350 meters to reach Cala Giordano.
