Cala d’Arena beach

Cala d'Arena is the northernmost beach on the island of Asinara and perhaps the most beautiful, divided in two during the winter by a small stream. behind it stands a coastal tower dating back to the 16th century. Until a few decades ago, Caretta caretta turtles laid their eggs, and some examples of monk seals could also be found. The beach has a very white sand, is surrounded by the Mediterranean scrub. the transparency of the water is incredible.

Cala d'Arena is subject to the full protection regime. The reasons for this protection lie in its extraordinary natural beauty, expressed in the azure colors of the sea and in the harsh and suggestive rocky stretches that alternate with white sand. A little further north of the Cala is the Punta Scorno lighthouse, which marks the northern end of the island of Asinara.
