Cala Grande

Cala Grande is a small valley, about 500 m long, located in the western part of the Capo Testa promontory, in the municipality of Santa Teresa Gallura (SS), in Sardinia. "Valley of the Moon" is the name attributed to this place around the 60s by a hippy community. Not to be confused with the valley of the Moon, also called the plain of the Grandi Sassi, present in the territory of Aggius.

It is characterized by the presence on both sides of the valley by granite rocks with unusual shapes which, although not dissimilar from those present in the rest of the promontory, form here a straight valley that runs down to the sea. The upper part of the valley is characterized by a huge granite boulder split in two attributable to the Roman period, when this area was subject to stone extraction. There is a source of fresh water and the vegetation is typical of Capo Testa: mainly strawberry trees, myrtle and heather. There are three main coves: Cala Grande, Cala di l'Ea and Cala di Mezzu.
