The Bulgarian Institute of Culture in Rome was inaugurated on October 1, 2006 in the home of the great lyric bass Boris Christoff in Via Madonna di Campiglio in Rome. Heir to the "Boris Christoff" Academy of Art and Culture, the Institute maintains its activity, enriching it with new cultural proposals. As the representative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bulgaria in Italy, the Institute has as its main purposes the promotion of the Bulgarian language and culture through its excellence and expressive multiplicity, the promotion of cultural exchanges between Italy and Bulgaria in the context of the European Union, the promotion of Bulgarian artistic production on Italian and European scenes, networks and festivals. The main activities of the Institute are divided into: Cultural activity, through the organization of events, reviews, exhibitions, concerts, as well as the creation of various types of artistic residences.

Training activities, through the Academy of "Boris Christoff" dedicated to the improvement of young opera singers, but also through the activity of the Bulgarian school "Saints Cyril and Methodius" which the Institute has hosted since 2014, the organization of Bulgarian language, workshops and study conferences, promotion and support for student mobility and cooperation between Bulgarian and Italian universities. Information activities on Bulgarian culture and traditions and the promotion of intercultural dialogue. Tourism promotion activities in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, presenting Bulgaria's rich cultural tourism offer. The Bulgarian Cultural Institute is a member of the Roman cluster of EUNIC, the network of European national cultural institutions operating in Italy.
