The Royal Netherlands Institute of Rome (KNIR) is the oldest and largest of the Dutch scientific institutes abroad (NWIB). For more than a hundred years, KNIR has been synonymous with high-quality research and interdisciplinary education in the humanities, carrying out a function of connection between the Dutch universities and the academic world in Italy.

The Institute organizes courses for students of all levels and courses and provides scholarships and accommodation in Rome for excellent students and researchers in various disciplines. With its stately villa, the exclusive collection of libraries and a rich program of congresses, conferences and cultural activities, KNIR offers scientific access to the Eternal City where Dutch students and researchers can indulge in cross-border perspectives.
