Pralormo Castle

The origin of the castle dates back to the 13th century, when it was a fortress, with a square plan, for the defense of the territory. From the Middle Ages until the beginning of the 19th century, the building was surrounded by a moat and accessed by a drawbridge and a ramp that ran parallel to the west facade, instead of the present entrance porch.

The history of the castle is naturally intertwined with that of the families who owned it over the centuries. The founders were the Lords of Anterisio, an ancient family that disappeared in the dark ages and reported to the Bishop of Asti. Then the fortress passed into the orbit of the Biandrate family, important imperial feudal lords, but after the clash between this important family and the Commune of Asti in 1275, around 1300 it came to the Roero, Roero branch of Pralormo.
