The P.M. Kolbe was born in Mestre in 1976 from an intuition of Father Francesco Ruffato and some lay people from Mestre, with the aim of making Christian thought a leaven of contemporary culture.
Taking the line of the great masters such as J. Maritain and E. Mounier and drawing inspiration from the example of the martyr of Auschwitz, Maximilian Kolbe. The center aims to document the social vitality of Christianity and testify to culture as a gratuitous love, without borders, for every man. In over thirty years of activity, the Center has marked the cultural life of Mestre and beyond. Among the activities of the Kolbe:

- the "Arturo Chiodi" School of Journalism
- The Research Theater Group (GTR)
- The Settembrini library with Venetian spirituality and culture funds in collaboration with the Veneto Region
- The Kolbe Children Choir
