Spinea

It is part of the Miranese district, which comprises a total of seven municipalities (in addition to Spinea, Mirano, Santa Maria di Sala, Noale, Salzano, Martellago and Scorzè). The municipal capital is located along the historic Mestre-Padua road that also passes through Mirano, the ancient "Miranese" road, formerly provincial road 32. Spinea makes official reference to Mirano both as regards socio-health and hospital care (ULSS 13 of Mirano / Dolo), both in school (Mirano school district). It also belongs to the Miranese constituency (which, in addition to the seven traditional municipalities of the area, also includes Pianiga).

According to the Regional Law 36 of 12 August 1993, its territory falls within the metropolitan area of Venice. From an ecclesiastical point of view, its territory belongs to the Diocese of Treviso and to the Vicariate of Mirano. The territory of Spinea extends west of the Venetian mainland, not far from the Lagoon and Marghera port. It is a totally flat area, with altitudes ranging from 3 to 8 m above sea level. going from southeast to northwest. There are no particularly important waterways. From north to south, there are the Rio Dosa, the Rio Cimetto (Paleoalveo del Muson), the Parauro-Cimetto ditch of Spinea, the Cimetto ditch and the Menegon canal-Cime-Canale Tron canal.

Although the oldest finds date back to the Roman age, the existence of settlements of the Paleoveneta civilization and the human presence during prehistory cannot be excluded. In fact, the territory of Spinea favored colonization thanks to the dense presence of water resources, and among the various rivers the Muson (whose original riverbed is now occupied by the Rio Cimetto) should be remembered, a convenient way of communication with the Venetian Lagoon.
