Azzano Decimo

According to the regional law 26/2014 "Reorganization of the Region system - Local self-government of Friuli Venezia Giulia" Azzano Decimo is the seat of the UTI "Sile e Meduna" which it belongs to with the municipalities of: Chions, Fiume Veneto, Pasiano di Pordenone, Prata di Pordenone and Pravisdomini.

Azzano Decimo is located in the western Friulian plain, a few kilometers from the left bank of the Meduna. It is about 10 km from Pordenone. Due to its geographical location, it is a crossroads for important commercial and industrial flows. The municipality of Azzano Decimo is characterized by various natural landscapes with remains of ancient deciduous and coniferous angiosperm forests, some of them hundreds of years old; the most important of these is certainly the forest of Mantua.

The territory of the municipality of Azzano Decimo was inhabited since prehistoric times. Neolithic sites in the localities of Fagnigola and Valer-Pezzacurta are known to scholars. When the region was conquered by the Romans, Azzano took on a certain importance, as evidenced by the very interesting repertoires found even during normal agricultural works: certainly the merit is to be found in the fertility of the land, irrigated by the numerous rivers that cross it, and because it was located along the path of one of the ways opened by the troops to facilitate connections between Rome and the other centers of the Empire.
