Doues

It is located at the beginning of Valpelline. In winter temperatures are particularly cold. Valpelline is locally called Coumba freida in patois or Combe froide in French, which means "Conca Fredda".

Next to the parish church stands the Castle of La Crête, now transformed into a rural dwelling, once the barons of La Crête and later by the Marquis Pallavicini. Doues (Doue in patois valdostano; Dovia d'Aosta during fascism from 1939 to 1946) is an Italian town of 516 inhabitants of the Aosta Valley.
