Brusson

In the Middle Ages the territory of Brusson was part of the patrimony of the abbey of Saint-Maurice d'Agaune (the patron saint of the municipality) located in the Valais, but was "rented" to the lords of Challant. These always declared to keep it in fiefdom from the abbey starting from 1263. It is also known the graphìa Chamosiraz, or in French Chamousière, indicating a place where chamois are found (tchamòs in local patois, chamois in French).

The Société des Mines d'or de l'Évançon first, and later the English company The Évançon Gold Mining Company Ltd., between 1902 and 1908, exploited the rich Chamousira gold mine by quarrying the gold quartz strands . In 2012, the plan to transform the Brusson gold mines into a museum center was announced, which was opened in 2015.

In the 1920s a dam was built and then an artificial lake to feed the hydroelectric power plant located in Isollaz in the municipality of Challand-Saint-Victor through a rock channel that feeds the Pianabeyéche loading tank upstream of the village of Orbeillaz, located in the nearby municipality of Challand-Saint-Anselme. The forced line from here to Isollaz achieves a 600m jump.
