Pisticci


Pisticci is an Italian town in the province of Matera in Basilicata. It is divided into several hamlets, among which the most populous is Marconia. Pisticci rises at 364 m a.s.l. in the central-southern part of the province and extends between the Basento rivers to the east and Cavone to the west, which separate the Pisticcese territory from the municipalities of Bernalda (18 km) and Montalbano Jonico (24 km) respectively.

Still to the east, it overlooks the Ionian Sea and is still bordered by the municipalities of Craco (19 km), Ferrandina (23 km), Pomarico (24 km) and Scanzano Jonico (27 km). It is 47 km from Matera and 92 km from the regional capital of Potenza. Pisticci is made up of several hamlets and hamlets, the most relevant being Casinello, Centro Agricolo, Marconia, Pisticci Scalo, Tinchi, to which the growing tourist resort of Marina di Pisticci has been added in recent years.

The closest meteorological station is Montalbano Jonico. According to the average data of the three-year period 1961-1990, the average temperature of the coldest month, January, stands at +7.4 ° C, while that of the hottest month, August, is +25.5°C.
