Andria

Andria is an Italian town, the capital, together with Barletta and Trani, of the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, in Puglia. It is the fourth largest city in the region by population, as well as the eighteenth in Italy by surface. The city is home to the provincial council of the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani and is part of the national oil city association. Due to the presence of its three high bell towers, it is also known as the city of the three bell towers, as well as a Federician city because of its link with Federico II of Svevia.

The symbol of the city is Castel del Monte, located on a hill 17 km from the town inside the Alta Murgia national park, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In Andria the burrata of Andria PGI was born and produced. The city is located on the lower slope of the Murge, at 151 m a.s.l. and 10 km from the Adriatic sea. It has an area of 408 km², making it the 18th Italian municipality by area.

The climate is Mediterranean, with almost mild winters and hot and dry summers, conditions that determine the alternation of two seasons favorable to vegetation, such as spring and autumn. The vegetation includes numerous wild species (Mediterranean pseudosteppa) which are contrasted by vast olive groves and vineyards.
