Termoli

Termoli is an Italian town in the province of Campobasso in Molise. The characteristic that immediately catches the eye is the ancient village (called by the inhabitants of the old country) which stands on a small promontory towards the sea, surrounded by walls. The ancient center of the city of Termoli has the characteristic streets of a fishing village, the Swabian Castle, the Cathedral and also the view of the Trabucchi.

Given the strategic position of the city, on sunny days you can admire the Gulf of Vasto and the Abruzzese reliefs of the Majella towards the north, the Tremiti Islands (FG) towards the sea and the profile of the Gargano promontory to the south. The city overlooks the Adriatic Sea at an altitude ranging from 0 to 178 m above sea level. Located in the altitude zone of the coastal hill, it is classified as low seismic risk. Geographically, a large part of the territory lies between the Biferno river (to the south) and the Sinarca torrent (to the north), both torrential in character, hence the hypothesis of the ancient name Interamnia Frentanorum which literally means "land between two rivers".

The oldest part of the city, in which the first settlements were formed, is the promontory where today the Borgo Antico stands, characterized by narrow streets with views of the Adriatic Sea. The city develops towards the north coast (Sant'Antonio beach) and south (Rio Vivo) where the various bathing establishments are located; towards the interior of the territory the city branches into various residential areas as well as the city center formed by two main streets (Corso Nazionale and Corso Fratelli Brigida) which were the cornerstones for developing the city dictated by the Bourbons in the early 1800s.
