Ostra Vetere

Ostra Vetere is an Italian town of 3 192 inhabitants in the province of Ancona in the Marche region. Ostra Vetere rises in the hilly territory of the Marche region. Perched on small plateaus, it has no flat areas. From the upper part of Ostra Vetere it is possible to see a glimpse of the sea in the direction of Senigallia.

Ostra Vetere took on its current name on March 19, 1882 by royal decree. Previously it was called Montenovo; the first attestation of this toponym dates back to the XII century.

In "Le Muracce" of Pongelli, there are the ruins of the ancient Roman city of Ostra. The archaeological site is the subject of archaeological investigation.
