Passo Giau

The Giau Pass, which connects Cortina d'Ampezzo to Selva di Cadore in the province of Belluno, is known as one of the most beautiful passes in the Dolomites. It is made famous not only for having been a stage of the Giro d'Italia, but also because during the year there are important events such as the Marathon of the Dolomites and for the numerous excursion proposals in both summer and winter.

The Giau pass (Jof de Giau in Ladin fodom, Suogo de Jou in Ladin Ampezzo) is an alpine pass in the Dolomites, located at 2236 m. in the province of Belluno between the Val Boite and the Val Cordevole, which connects the municipalities of Colle Santa Lucia and Selva di Cadore with Cortina d'Ampezzo.

It is located in the center of a vast mountain pasture, at the foot of the Nuvolau (2,574 m) and Averau (2,647 m) from which you can easily reach Monte Pore (2,405 m) or even the Mondeval alp at the foot of the Lastoi de formin (2,657 m). Majestic is the panorama to the west towards Colle Santa Lucia with the Pale di San Martino, the Cime D'Auta, the Marmolada, the Piz Boè and the Setsass, just as east towards the basin of Cortina D'Ampezzo, with the Tofane, the Croda Rossa, Pomagagnon, Cristallo, Croda da Lago and Lastoni di Formin.
