Castello di Falconara

In the territory of Butera, on a promontory surrounded by greenery, stands Falconara Castle, the only one among the manors in the province of Caltanissetta to overlook the sea.

Dating back to the 15th century, enlarged and strengthened over time, it maintained its function as a watchdog against pirate raids until the entire 18th century.

The tower, the original nucleus of the castle, in addition to defending the activities of a small 'loader,' was part of the island's coastal defensive circuit; in fact, the towers of Falconara and Manfria, about 8 km apart, were entrusted with the control of the stretch of coast between Licata and Terranova (today's Gela).

Outside, Falconara Castle is surrounded by lush parkland, within which is an exclusive resort, the Falconara Charming House, owned by the Bordonaro Family.
