Castello di Caccamo

A large limestone cliff guards the town of Caccamo, halfway between Palermo and Cefalù.

The manor stands on top of an imposing rock, 513 meters above sea level, set on the slopes of Monte Rotondo (m 919) and overlooking the surrounding countryside, the San Leonardo River valley and the Rosamarina Dam.

Just below, the landscape drawn by the valley of the San Leonardo River-its waters feed the Rosmarina Reservoir-and the crags of Mt. Calogero.

It was the Normans who founded the castle: the first documented traces date back to the 12th century.

Visit it to discover the history of the island.
