Gambino Wines

The Gambino Wines company is located on Etna. A set of unique and fascinating territories of Sicily.

Man in these lands interacts, often with difficulty, with a beautiful but equally complicated environment. A land where everything is extreme, on the verge of growing grapes.

Between 500 and 1400 meters above sea level, there are the places with the most marked wine-growing vocation, and the most representative vineyards of Etna's enology. It is to these vineyards that we owe the oldest Sicilian Denomination of Controlled Origin, established in 1968.

The link between the volcano and wine dates back to ancient times: findings of vine shoots on Etna take us between the end of the Neolithic and the beginning of the metal age, that is 4 or 5 millennia ago. It was probably a matter of wild grapevines, cared for following the arrival of the Mediterranean peoples who settled on the island.

In fact, it is due to the Phoenicians and then to the Greeks for the introduction of new systems of cultivation and production of wine, which was marketed throughout the Mediterranean.
