Porticoes of Le Colonete

In Venice in the San Marco district we organize collective painting exhibitions at the arcades of Rio Terà de Le Colone.

Rio Terà de le Colonne, on the Rio de le Colonne

The Rio Terà de le Colonne was built in 1837 by burying the river of the same name. The Rio de le Colonna started from the Rio dei Scoacamini, and after a sinuous path that went from west to east, it flowed into the Rio dei Ferali. It was crossed by a bridge, the Ponte de le Campane, and a foundation that ran along the entire current portico.

COLUMNS (Rio Terrà, Sottoportico delle) in San Marco, at Calle dei Fabbri. Some columns, or rather pillars, still support the houses on this site. The Rio delle Colonne in San Marco was buried in 1837, and the bridge above it was destroyed, and which was said of the Bells by an old bell foundry, run by the Castelli and Dalla Venezia companies.

Other streets in Venice bear the same name for the same reason. We believe that some columns also existed at the Courts and the Rami Colonne and, as in the Estimi, of the Columns, at Castello. These Courts and these Branches could be called under the Republic a vast hospital, or hospice for the poor. Here the Procuratia De Citra dispensed 53 houses to worthy sailors, and another 10 to miserable people. In addition there were 8 houses in which, according to the pious disposition of a Zuane priest, eight noble women gathered.
