Bellaguardia Castle, Castle of Juliet

Bellaguardia Castle or Castles of Juliet, is a small manor in the territory of Montecchio Maggiore, it is located in front of the Castello della Villa, one in front of the other on the hill of Montecchio Maggiore (Vicenza - Italy).

They are also known as the castles of Romeo and Juliet, the unlucky young lovers, whose legend is told in the novel known first as 'Historia' and then as 'La Giulietta' which in the early 16th century was taken up by authors of various nationalities to finally becoming the well-known masterpiece of William Shakespeare.

The legend, in fact, wants Luigi da Porto to have been inspired in writing his recently found Historia, which was the basis of the writing of Romeo and Juliet for Shakespeare, precisely at the sight of these two neighboring and opposite castles.

Of all the wonders of these fortresses, the most beautiful is of a naturalistic type: from the hills of Montecchio, and especially from Juliet's Castle, you can in fact enjoy a spectacular 360-degree panoramic view that can reach, in clear sunny days , up to the Small Dolomites.
