The Scaliger Castle of Malcesine, on the northeastern shore of Lake Garda in the province of Verona, is probably the most popular of the Veneto castles in Italy, so much so that it has been selected in recent years as an ideal location for weddings often hosted by characters wealthy.
The castle, passed over the centuries into the hands of the Lombards, Franks, Scaligeri, Venetians, Visconti, French and Austrians, is a suggestive fortification overlooking the romantic waters of Lake Garda.
The structure has typical swallow-tailed battlements on its ramparts and also has an impressive keep that is worth visiting to observe the most distant ends of the Lake from its summit and let yourself be carried away by the evocative atmosphere of a literally fairytale setting.
