The National Cinema Museum owes its uniqueness to the peculiarity of the exhibition layout.
Hosted at the Mole Antonelliana, a symbol of Turin.
In designing the museum layout, the Swiss set designer François Confino not only had to take into account the characteristics of the building that houses it, but following the Antonellian crescendo, he superimposed different levels of reading, combining the needs of a rigorous scientific system with the needs of a spectacular presentation that aims to reproduce and play with the mechanisms of fascination that are the basis of cinematographic representation. The museum develops in a spiral upwards on several exhibition levels that trace the history of cinema from its origins to the present day.
On the floor dedicated to Cinema Archeology, eight thematic areas can be visited to experience first-hand the optical performances and devices that have marked some fundamental stages for the birth of cinema.
The spectacular heart of the Museum is the Temple Hall, surrounded by exhibition areas dedicated to the great genres of the history of cinema, plus an area dedicated to the masterpiece of Italian silent cinema, Cabiria and one in Turin "Città del Cinema".
The hall leads to the helical ramp which, like a film, unfolds up towards the dome: the location is home to temporary exhibitions and allows visitors to admire the Hall from a spectacular and breathtaking view.
The Cinema Machine illustrates the different components and phases of the film industry: production studies, direction, screenplay, actors and star system, stage costumes, set design, storyboards, cinema.
Go up to the Manifesto Gallery, which retraces the history of cinema, the most relevant films and authors and illustrate the evolution of figurative taste, graphics and advertising posters.

Visits to the Dome are not recommended for visitors with mobility problems, severe sight or hearing defects, heart disease or lung disease, claustrophobia, disorientation syndromes (labyrinthitis, dizziness, etc.). The visit to the Dome is not allowed for children of age less than 6 years. In the summer months the departure of the visit to the Cupola is subject to the weather conditions.
