National Institute of Roman Studies

The National Institute of Roman Studies - onlus - addresses the knowledge of Rome in all its aspects (historical, archaeological, artistic, urban, linguistic, social, economic, etc.) and in every period of its millenary history, from ancient to our days.

In the reality of the Institute, the purpose of scientific research and that of high dissemination are closely connected: the results of the research are also evidenced by the rich catalog of publications.

In addition, national and international conferences, study days, series of conferences, competitions, inspections of monuments, art collections and excavations in Rome, Italy and abroad are organized.

Founded in 1925 by Carlo Galassi Paluzzi and erected as a non-profit organization the following year, the Institute was restructured on an academic basis in 1951 (academic body) and is registered in the list of cultural institutions admitted to ordinary State contributions.

The Institute has a large number of members, to whom it reserves a series of concessions.
