Basilica of Santa Giulia

The basilica of Santa Giulia of Bonate Sotto, in the province of Bergamo, of which the apse remains, was founded in the early twelfth century in that part of the territory that was called Lesina, due to the proximity of the homonymous stream.

There is no certain dating of its foundation, but only indirect since it derives from the still existing papal correspondence.

A letter from Pope Honorius II dated 14 May 1129 addressed to Bishop Ambrogio of Bergamo and to the Chapter of Sant'Alessandro stated, among other things, "... regarding the church of Lesina not yet consecrated ...", thus certifying its existence on that date .
