The Mirny mine

Is a city in Russia located in eastern Siberia, in the Autonomous Republic of Jacuzia, administrative capital (from which it is however formally separated) of the Uulus (district) Mirninsky. The city is located 820 kilometers west of the capital Jakutsk, on the Ireljach River, and is served by an airport.

The city was founded in 1955 immediately after the construction of the road that connects it to Lensk, following the discovery of diamond deposits. Mirny received city status in 1959, only four years after its foundation.
