Ostana (Ostan-a in Piedmontese, Oustano in Occitan) is an Italian town of 81 inhabitants in the province of Cuneo, in Piedmont. It is located in the Po Valley and is included in the list of the most beautiful villages in Italy, created by the Tourism Council of the Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI).
The wetlands present on the territory of Ostana have historically been the subject of pastoral activities, but the non-rational use of the resource has been the cause of degradation and erosive phenomena. For this reason, between 2014 and 2015, municipal pastures were the object of a mapping aimed at setting up a new pastoral management model able to optimize, without ever offending, the resources of the territory.
