Badwater is an endorheic basin (ie without emissaries) located in the Death Valley, Inyo County, California, within Death Valley National Park.
It is known to be conventionally referred to as the lowest point in North America, with an altitude of 282 feet (86 m) below sea level, while Mount Whitney, the highest point in the continental United States, lies only 76 miles ( 122 km) to the west.
