Sydney Opera House

The Sydney Opera House is one of the most significant architectures built in the 20th century and is almost an icon not only for the city of Sydney, where it stands, but for the Australia itself. The project is by Danish architect Jørn Utzon, supported by structural calculations by London-based engineering company Arup.

Located in the bay of Sydney, with an amusement park to the south and a large car park accessible from Macquarie Street, well connected and close to the huge Sydney Harbor Bridge, the building and its surroundings often represent a destination for tourists who - for the most part without any interest in the work crowd the building simply to visit the structure. According to some critics, the spherical shells can remember the flotilla of sailing boats that cruises in the Australian seas.
