Hofburg Palace - Sissi Museum

The Hofburg Palace is a complex of Habsburg palaces with baroque interiors, imperial apartments and a silverware museum.

The Hofburg complex is located in Vienna and has been the center of Austrian power for more than six centuries, together with the more peripheral and less ancient Schönbrunn Palace.

The complex of buildings has been built over the centuries without a basic project and it can be easily seen by taking a look at the general floor plan of the building.

The unique project that still emerges today is therefore the result of the inclusion of various pre-existing structures at each extension, with the aim of including but at the same time preserving the structures in each new design.

From 1438 to 1583 and from 1612 to 1806, in fact, the palace was the seat of the kings and emperors of the Holy Roman Empire and of the Germanic nation, then of the emperors of Austria until 1918.

Nowadays the palace is the seat of the federal presidents of Austria.
