The Palace of Congresses, Villa Vittoria

The Palace of Congresses is a building in Florence located in the Da Basso Fortress, near the Santa Maria Novella station.

Born as Villa Vittoria on the initiative of the Strozzi of Mantua, it was also known as Villa Contini Bonacossi due to the owner who took over, Alessandro Contini Bonacossi; renovated in 1925 by Giovanni Michelucci, it was purchased in 1964 by the autonomous Florentine tourism company and destined for current use through extensions by Enzo Vannucci and Pierluigi Spadolini.

The complex was enhanced with the creation of the congress center from 1965 to 1974.

On that occasion, the Palazzo dei Congressi and the Palazzo degli Affari, on the edge of the park, were built by Pierluigi Spadolini and P. Felli among others.

A large exhibition-congress complex was created, managed by a single contact person from the beginning of the 90s (the Florence Convention Bureau), which also includes the Da Basso Fortress and which was further amalgamated with the creation of the Bambine e Bambini square. Beslan.

Today it is used as the seat of the Florentine Colloquia.

Entrance from the station area.
