Terzigno is a town in the metropolitan city of Naples, in Campania.
The municipality was born in 1913 as a result of the spin-off from the municipality of Ottaviano. So the history of Terzigno is the same as that of Octavian, at least up to the twentieth century. From an ecclesiastical point of view it was part of the Parish and Mother Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Ottaviano. In ancient times it was made up of the two districts of the Avini and the Bifulchi.
However, from findings found it was discovered that the area was already inhabited in Roman times. In fact, the aristocrats of nearby Pompeii loved the spectacular panorama of Vesuvius and the Gulf of Naples.
More recently Terzigno also experienced the liberal uprisings that preceded the unification of Italy: in the locality, then belonging to the Municipality of Ottaviano, in 1861 the Captain of the National Guards Don Giuseppe Boccia found death, who was shot in the back by some brigands . In 2013 the small Vesuvian village celebrated its first centenary.
