Rubber Creatures - Venice Vintage Toys

In Venice, from an idea of the collector Fabrizio Fontanella, a permanent exhibition is about to open dedicated to strictly vintage gadgets and toys, linked to the world of television. The inauguration of the exhibition was in February 2020.

The Creature di Gomma - Venice Vintage Toys exhibition is in Campo San Stin, in the heart of Venice, very close to the Frari in a former industrial Carteria in Calle de la Vida (home of the historic Venetian Cartotecnica, which was closed for a long time). The vaults and skylights make the setting of Creature di Gomma - Venice Vintage Toys even more suggestive.

The collection, the result of a passion that has lasted for over 20 years, currently has over 5000 pieces. Venice Vintage Toys is a cultural association, created to manage the exhibition and organize events, meetings with the authors and workshops. Among the objectives of the Association there is also the promotion of educational activities and workshops with local schools. The workshops with schools are managed by Art System, which collaborates with Venice Vintage Toys in this area.

The exhibition Creature di Gomma - Venice Vintage Toys presents itself as one of a kind: while all the other European toy museums also collect toys from the last century and of various kinds, here, in fact, we speak exclusively of vintage and related characters only to the television theme.

The official mascot of Venice Vintage Toys is called El Panta and was created and registered in Siae in 2019. It is a Venetian pantegana dressed as a gondolier, who lives in a den inside the exhibition. It was animated by the Disney maestro Giorgio Cavazzano.
