The Municipal Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Viareggio (GAMC) is set up in the historic Palace of the Muses.
The collection currently consists of over 3,000 works by about 750 leading artists of 20th century art.
There is also a significant presence of local authors or those who have had various ties with this land and of works that have local landscapes as their subject.
The GAMC has the most important public collection of works by Lorenzo Viani, an original exponent of European Expressionism.
