Marini Clarelli Santi Foundation

The Palazzo degli Oddi, later Marini Clarelli, now the Casa Museo, is located in the heart of the city at number 84 of Via dei Priori, on the side of the square that until the end of the nineteenth century was called "Piazza degli Oddi".

The building is located in the Porta Santa Susanna district, on the area where the family's homes already stood in medieval times, in one of the five "royal streets" that at the time radiated from "Piazza Grande".

The palace was built in the mid-sixteenth century after Guido degli Oddi bought a further "domus" in 1444 with a tower and a vegetable garden that allowed it to be built. The fifteenth-century building was incorporated into the construction of the building that had to begin in the second half of the sixteenth century and is to be connected with the alliance made by the Guelphs of the Oddi with Pope Paul III Farnese during the salt war.

The hall on the ground floor remains intact of the sixteenth-century building, with a sixteenth-century terracotta floor and beamed ceiling, elegantly painted at the beginning of the seventeenth century with a series of frescoes attributed by Francesco Santi to Silla Piccinini and Pietro Rancanelli.

A house museum in the heart of Perugia that reveals the elegance and richness of perfectly preserved furnishings and collections. Belonging to one of the most prestigious Perugian families, the Palazzo degli Oddi, now the Marini Clarelli Santi Foundation, reveals to the public a noble residence, testimony of over three centuries of history.

Located in the medieval district of Porta S. Susanna, with an elegant and severe eighteenth-century façade, at the beginning of via dei Priori, the royal road leading to the historic center, on the ancient square once called 'degli Oddi'. The large sixteenth-century hall on the ground floor, which retains the painted coffered ceiling and the original terracotta floor, is frescoed with panels narrating the glorious deeds of the Oddi family, interspersed with manneristic and harmonious figures of Muses and Virtues. Looking out from the loggia you can admire the eighteenth-century garden, which announces the suggestive view of the Perugian panorama.
