MAUTO, National Automobile Museum of Turin

The National Automobile Museum of Turin (MAUTO), currently named after Giovanni Agnelli (previously to the founder Carlo Biscaretti di Ruffia), is based in Turin and is considered one of the most important and oldest automobile museums in the world.

The car museum is also visible on the internet via a virtual tour on the Google Maps site with the Street View function.

The Automobile Museum was founded in 1932 from an idea of ??two pioneers of national motoring, Cesare Goria Gatti and Roberto Biscaretti di Ruffia (first President of the Automobile Club of Turin and one of the founders of Fiat), and is one of the oldest Automobile museums of the world.

The site located on the left bank of the Po not far from the Lingotto, has housed the Turin Automobile Museum since 1960 and is one of the few buildings built specifically to house the collection of a museum and also represents a particular example of modern architecture. The project is the work of the architect Amedeo Albertini.

The models on display are original and belonging to 80 car manufacturers. The cars on display are then distributed over the three floors of the building starting from the second floor; for each floor the exhibition is characterized by a theme:

The automobile and the twentieth century: This section of the exhibition talks about the history of the automobile.
The man and the car: The relationship between man and the car is dealt with on the first floor of the building.
The automobile and design: The last section of the exhibition itinerary deals with the relationship between the automobile and industrial design.
