Route National 8

Route nationale 8 (RN 8) is a 198 km long western Madagascar state road that connects Morondava to Belo Sur Tsiribihina, continuing north to Bekopaka. It is a dirt track, practicable from May to December, subject to interruptions during the rainy season.

The stretch between Morondava and Belo Sur Tsiribihina is also known as the Allée des baobab, Avenue des baobab or Rue des baobab, as along its route there are numerous centuries-old specimens of baobab Adansonia grandidieri. It is a place among the most famous of the island, subject since 2007 to protection from the Malagasy Ministry of the Environment, which plans its classification as a Natural Monument.

info: The stretch from Belo Sur Tsiribihina to Bekopaka is the gateway to the Tsingy integral nature reserve of Bemaraha.
