Monte del Grano Mausoleum and Park


The Mausoleum of Monte del Grano is a Roman mausoleum from the 3rd century AD. located in the park of XVII Aprile 1944 in Rome, Italy.

The mausoleum is a circular brick building with a diameter of approximately 30 meters. It is topped by a hemispherical dome.

The entrance to the mausoleum is via a segmental arch portal. The interior of the mausoleum is a circular chamber with an apsed niche at the rear.

The niche once housed a statue of Emperor Alexander Severus, to whom the mausoleum is traditionally attributed.

The Monte del Grano Park dates back to 17th April 1944 and is a public park located in the Tuscolano district of Rome.

The park was created in 1944 on the site of a Roman villa and park. The park is home to the Monte del Grano Mausoleum, as well as a number of other archaeological remains, including a nymphaeum, an aqueduct and a necropolis. The park is also home to a variety of trees, plants and flowers.

The Mausoleum and Park are both popular tourist attractions and are open to the public for guided tours. The park is open to the public every day.
