Civic Archaeological Museum of Milan

The Civic Archaeological Museum of Milan is an archaeological museum, located in the former convent of the major monastery of San Maurizio, where the Greek, Etruscan, Roman, barbarian and Gandhara sections are located.

The museum is the heir of the National Archaeological Museum, founded in 1862, and of the older Numismatic Cabinet of Brera founded in 1808.

The foundation of the first archaeological museum was sanctioned with a Royal Decree of 13 November 1862 and promoted by the then Minister of Public Education Carlo Matteucci.
