The Parrasio Wood

The Academy of Arcadia is one of the oldest and most representative Italian academies. In fact, the first "Gathering of the Arcades", which was attended by fourteen writers, including Giovan Mario Crescimbeni, who was the first General Custos, was held in the garden of the convent of San Pietro in Montorio on 5 October 1690, as an ideal continuation of the meetings hosted in the Roman palace of Queen Christina of Sweden, who died in 1689.

Its historic residence, Woods Parrasio (Bosco Parrasio), has in fact been leased to private individuals for many years.

It annually proposes a cycle of conferences aimed not only at members but also at a cultured and passionate public. It also publishes the "Arcadia Library" for the History and Literature Editions, divided into two series, one of "Acts and Memories of Arcadia" and one of "Studies and Texts", both of which testify to the continuity of the cultural mission of 'Academy, between innovation and tradition.
