Branda Castiglioni Museum

Once it was the historic adobe of Cardinal Branda Castiglioni (1350-1443), while today it is an indispensible starting point in order to fully understand the cultural level of such an important figure.

It is in this Palace that we can admire the artistic exemplars that most represent his humanist point of view. The realisation of such pictorial and sculptural masterpieces is given thanks to the cooperation between Masolino da Panicale and Lorenzo di Pietro detto "il Vecchietta", who were able to implement the prospective vision learned in Florence under the supervision and the teaching of Leon Battista Alberti.

The Cardinal descendants contributed to enrich this heritage by commissioning family portraits and by collecting valuable furniture that nowadays come together with the most ancient historical evidences.
