Ricca Palace

The late sixteenth-century palace belonged to the ancient Ricca family of Spanish origin enrolled in the nobility of Catanzaro and Taverna is located in the ancient Pianicello district.

The organism is one of the most important examples of the sixteenth-century architectural landscape of Catanzaro, since it has an external typology characterized by the existence of two twin limestone portals. It dates back to the latter part of the 16th century.

The main facade has a typology rhythmically marked by windows and balconies that give the whole grandeur and elegance.

The peculiarity of the building are the two twin portals that characterize the facade and which are common to numerous other city buildings built in the same period.

The building took on an eclectic style at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, when it underwent a restyling aimed mainly at the construction of a staircase in front of the entrance hall.
