LUMEN - Museum of Mountain Photography

The museum is located on top of the Plan de Corones, at a height of 2,275 m a.s.l., in South Tyrol, 3 kilometers south of Brunico.

In December 2018, a futuristic Museum of Photography, called LUMEN, was inaugurated at the mountain station, based on a project by the architects EM2 Architekten.

Panoramic site that offers a wide view of the surrounding mountains, from the Dolomites (the furthest visible peaks are the Marmolada and the Fradusta) to the peaks of the Alps in Val Venosta, the relative ski resort is part of the Dolomiti Superski area.

In July 2015, one of the "MMM" museums was inaugurated on the summit, commissioned by the South Tyrolean mountaineer Reinhold Messner.

In the LUMEN Museum, the spaces unfold on four floors, making tangible the history of mountain photography from the beginning to today, and the art of mountain photographers from all over the world.

LUMEN presents historical photographs and digital innovations, exciting temporary exhibitions and spectacular productions.

The curatorial program is characterized by its interdisciplinary character: mountaineering, tourism, politics, spirituality and history.

The theme of the mountain is therefore examined from different perspectives.
