Dialogue in the dark - Institute of the Blind in Milan

More than a museum with its own collection, it is an atypical place in which to live a different sensory experience, completely in the dark.

Inside this shed without light it will be possible to discover exhibition rooms in which objects from everyday life are present.

With the other senses we will try to recognize them. All in the Institute of the Blind in Milan.

Dialogue in the dark is an exhibition-itinerary that is worth visiting with children.

I want to deepen the contact with the darkness because, from my nocturnal walks, I have understood that the dark frightens many children (and even more than an adult!), Certainly due to the emergence of ancestral fears but also because it is a situation that now we experience very little.

The less we are in the dark, the more we get used to considering the light pollution of our cities as normal; the less we play and familiarize children with the dark, the more we feed their fears simply because something unknown remains.

Instead, I think that darkness is a natural element like many others, which can be intimidating, but which should be part of our life, just like the sun or the rain. We should go back to having contact with the dark also to learn to listen better to the sensations and information that the other senses send us, without entrusting the guide of our life to sight alone.
