Japoce Palace

Palazzo Japoce is located in Campobasso, uphill San Bartolomeo. It has a massive entrance door that overlooks a rectangular square improperly called "piazzetta Japoce".

Built in the eighteenth century by the Japoce family, probably on pre-existing fourteenth-century and fifteenth-century buildings, it was the subject of considerable restructuring and consolidation works between the eighties and nineties of the twentieth century.

It is the seat of the peripheral offices of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism (Regional Secretariat, Regional Superintendence for Cultural Heritage of Molise, Molise Museum Complex).

The building has a quadrangular structure with an internal cloister. The façade has a round arch, once the gateway to the internal square. The only eighteenth-century decorative element is the actual portal, enriched by an ashlar frame, with flowers in relief.
